If you already got a modem from any of the telecommunication companies in Nigeria such as MTN, Glo, Airtel and Etisalat networks, you should notice you are restricted to use only the SIM card of the network modem you got and whenever you need to switch to another network provider SIM crad, you would be required to buy their modem and this could be very annoying as Nigerian networks are not always stable.

However, you can bypass the security placed on the modem restricting you to only the network provider SIM card by unlocking the modem and switching between different network provider SIM cards whenever there is a network glitch. There are two companies that manufactures these modems for the nigerian telecommunication networks, they are Huawei and ZTE.

How To Unlock Huawei USB Modem With Huawei Unlocker

The unlocking process of the Huawei usb modem is just as simple as ABC, you don't require any special knowledge to get it done, all you need is to know how to operate a computer, the Huawei unlocker software, your Huawei modem and IMEI or serial number.
  • Download the Huawei Unlocker software
  • Extract the file to your desktop
  • Launch the Huawei Unlocker software
  • Enter the IMEI or Serial number of your modem (it is usually printed on the back of the modem) in the text box
  • Click the Calculate Code button

  • The Unlock code and Flash code of your modem will be automatically generated on the display section of the software
  • Copy the unlock code and save it in a notepad
  • Now insert an unsupported network SIM card in your modem and plug it into your computer
  • The modem software will prompt you to enter the unlock code of the modem, enter the unlock code you copied from the huawei unlocker software and click ok
And that's it, you just unlocked your Huawei USB modem, you can now insert any network provider SIM card and surf the net. Now let's see how to unlock ZTE USB modem.

How To Unlock ZTE USB Modem With DC Unlocker (Dccrap)

The Nigerian network providers recently preferred using modems manufactured by ZTE because the security placed on it is more secure than that placed on Huawei modem. Unfortunately, unlocking ZTE modems has been made easy with the help of a universal data card unlocker (dccrap) which is popularly known as DC Unlocker. Below are the steps required to unlock your ZTE USB modem.
  • Download the DC Unlocker software
  • Extract the file to your desktop
  • Locate and launch dccrap.exe
  • Insert an unsupported network SIM Card in your ZTE modem and plug it into your computer
  • Click on the search icon, DC Unlocker will automatically detect and display your modem info in the display section of software

  • Under select manufacturer tab, select ZTE datacards
  • Under select model tab, leave it as Auto detect (recommended)
  • Click Unlocking menu and then click Unlock 
  • You should get "card successfully unlocked" message on the display section of dc unlocker
